No. Just… no. Vivian and Birdetta are trans and they are women. They identify and present themselves as women. That makes them women.
I know this post seems like a stupid thing to get upset over, but this attitude that trans women are “really men” is fucking everywhere and it’s incredibly insulting and dismissive.
Just look at some of the comments this post lead to. “I knew Birdo was a dude, but Vivian’s a man too?”, “I had a crush on Vivian, I feel so gay now!”, “Show me proof!”, “he”s and “it”s and “trap”s being thrown around… And this attitude is just continually perpetuated, and it hardly ever gets called out.
So, yeah. This is offensive and these two are women. Simple as that.
That’s the big reason why I hate “didyouknow” tumblrs. They seem to rely more on shock value than actual facts and/or truth. People eat that shit up like candy and flip the fuck out over the silliest things because they are incapable of thinking for themselves…
I’ve such a love/hate relationship with this franchise, but illustrations like these make me forget all of the pain.
